History, Importance, and Practices of a Good Day

Holi is one of the largest Hindu festivals in India. A beautiful celebration can be celebrated for a few days in different parts of the country. The Rang Panchami event is marked by people mainly living in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and other northern regions of India. This year, the holy day of Rang Panchami falls on Friday, April 2nd.

Rang Panchami's idea, according to Drik Panchang, will start at 10:59 a.m. on April 1 and continue until 8:15 a.m. on April 2. According to the Hindu calendar, the day is at Panchami Tithi of Phalguna, Krishna Paksha (according to the Amavasyant calendar) and Panchami Tithi, Chaitra, Krishna Paksha (according to the Purnimant calendar)

According to Hindu tradition, the holi festivals end on the day of Rang Panchami. As the name suggests, the day also celebrates the existence of Panch Tatva or the five elements of life. This tatva or elements are water, air, earth, sky, and fire. Each of these has a unique role to play in the existence of a human being. Every year, this day is celebrated five days after Holika Dahan.

It is believed that when the sacred fire is lit, all bad qualities including the Tamasic and Rajasic elements are removed. These negative factors are believed to create a barrier to one's journey to Moksha, meaning basically freedom from the cycle of birth, life, and death. So, after these bad qualities have been eliminated, one is left with the Sattvic Guna, which is beautiful in nature. This Guna helps on the way to salvation.

As all negligence is removed because of fire, the atmosphere is full of hope and the presence of God is felt by believers. So, as a sign of this, people play with colors, sing happy songs, and greet each other on the day.
