HOLI FESTIVAL 2021

Holi Festival - how and why do people celebrate it?

The Hindu festival of Holi originated in India but is now celebrated all over the world. It is known as the festival of love, colors, and spring and involves people throwing colored flour and water. The two-day festival also celebrates the Hindu god Krishna and the legend of Holika and Prahlad. The colored powder is thought to refer to Krishna by throwing colored water at people when he was a boy. The story of Holika and Prahlad illustrates the good over the  bad.                                                                               Celebrations this year, festivals have been banned in some areas due to coronavirus restrictions but often large crowds gather in the street and throw paint. People of all backgrounds are engaging in fun and it is an opportunity for families to play tricks on each other. The festival marks the beginning of spring, celebrating new life and love. It is celebrated in the last full month of the month and this year it will be on 28 and 29 March. On the first day, people light fires and eat special food and on the second day, there is fighting. People wear old clothes so their beautiful clothes will not be damaged As well as colored powder people sometimes throw water balloons and collect water with water guns. People give presents and eat special foods such as cartoons, coconuts, and fried chicks. Perhaps it is one of those times when children are encouraged to defile themselves. It's very complicated but it looks very fun.
